Long Term Courses

National Meteorological Training Centre (NMTC) offers three main programmes;

Basic Technician Certificate in Meteorology— NTA LEVEL 4 which is also recognized by the World Meteorological Organization as WMO-Meteorological Technician Entry-Level). This is a one year programme with two semesters and has Eleven modules.

After completion of the course, graduate(s) is able to observe different weather parameters.

Technician Certificate in Meteorology— NTA LEVEL 5 which is also recognized by the World Meteorological Organization as WMO-Meteorological Technician Mid-Level). This is a one year programme with two semesters and has twelve modules.

After completion of the course, graduate(s) is able to observe, code, decode and communicate the weather and climate information.

Graduate(s)is also expected to work in different sectors such as Aviation, Agriculture, Hydrology, Tourism, Ecology, Energy, Defence and National Service, Fishing, Surface and Marine Transport, Industries, Academic and Research Institutes and Disaster Management.

Ordinary Diploma in Meteorology— NTA LEVEL 6 which is recognized by the World Meteorological Organization as WMO-Meteorological Technician Senior Level. This is a two year programme with four semesters and has twenty eight modules.

After completion of the course, graduate(s) is able to perform the duties such as Analysis of data, Weather briefing and Forecasting and applying principles of meteorology in Agriculture, Aviation, Marine transport, Meteorological Researches and Environmental Management .
